about me
I sought to be a counselor to help others become the best version of themselves in order to live their best lives.
I am a retired Major in the United States Army with 23 years of military service. My military assignments have ranged from Topographic Non-Commissioned Officer, Horizontal Engineer Company Commander, Brigade Engineer Battalion Executive Officer, and Combat Engineer. I have dedicated my career to taking care of soldiers and their families.
I believe everyone deserves to live a life of peace, purpose, and positivity. My commitment is to help you get there. I have recently opened my own private practice. Prior to this, I was contracted as a clinical mental health professional in a nurse practitioner’s office, providing mental health services on a collaborative team that offers psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and therapy for various behavioral and mental health conditions. Before that assignment, I worked for a military-specific treatment program designed to meet the complex needs of active-duty service members with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), including substance abuse and other behavioral health issues. The program aimed to build resilience in soldiers through consistent leader engagement and innovative coping mechanisms. I have also had the opportunity to help children and adolescents work through serious mental, emotional, and behavioral difficulties in a program established specifically for at-risk youth. With tailored and unique treatment plans, each youth and family unit were able to achieve their individualized goals.
My civilian education includes a Doctorate in Counseling and Psychological Studies from Regent University, a Master of Arts in Counseling from St. Edward’s University, a Master of Science in Geological Engineering from the University of Missouri- Rolla, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Wayland Baptist University.
My husband, Daniel Carrizales, is a retired Marine Corps Gunnery Sergeant. We have four girls (ages 30, 28, 26, and 21), two boys (ages 23 and 17), and seven lovely grandchildren.
My spouse and I desire to provide our clientele with the highest-quality counseling services because we truly believe exceptional care is the least anyone deserves. By adopting a multifaceted approach, we apply evidence-based principles to develop strategies that enhance the client’s well-being and improve their quality of life.
